This is a photo of me in front of F6 where I lived for two and a half years in the mid ’80’s. In those years we did not need all the cabins for guests. One thing I loved, that was unique to that cabin, is that lots of names, dates and little messages were written on the walls from the 1930’s to the 1960’s. It was fun to read them.

When I went back to that cabin in the ’90’s, I was dismayed and angry to see that someone had sanded all the walls and removed that history. I guess they wanted to make it look “better”. Well now that the cabin burned down in 2020 I am at least relieved of that grudge!

Wow. I had no idea of its history John! I think that’s the cabin I stayed in with Richard when the infestation of ants forced us to leave while it was treated with borates.

It’s funny how people wipe history away and think it’s an improvement😢

Great story John 🙂 Shanti Little and Deva Bluemoon lived in F-6, as did Susan Cassuto and so many others. My vision is to have each community dwelling at Breitenbush to have a list of all the community members (with dates) who have lived in each space. *(I was going to say each “cabin”, but there are “A-frames”, Yurts, Trailers, RV’s and Tent platforms too.) This would not only be very interesting, but would also show the generations of people who have “grown” Breitenbush over the years, decades, and now, centuries! It would also impress upon current residents, that their presence, and contribution, will someday show up in the lineup of homies in the various spaces they inhabited over the course of the “housing shuffle” at Breitenbush!
