About

I first stayed at Breitenbush in 1980 and then twice lived and worked there (1985-88 and 2010-20). I thought for many years of starting an online forum about Breitenbush before the spread of Covid-19 caused Breitenbush to close on March 18, 2020. Breitenbush reopened in Aug., but then in Sept. 2020 a forest fire burned right through the property causing so much destruction that the business closed again.

Most of Breitenbush’s staff lost their jobs and had to find new homes in 2020. It was difficult for all the displaced staff to keep in touch. Out of my desire to stay connected to the people of Breitenbush and out of my concern for its future, I envisioned the Friends of Breitenbush website in February 2021.

I envisioned how the website could help support the sense of community that was experienced by so many people — guests, presenters, staff — who spent time on that special land over many years. Being at Breitenbush Hot Springs is a powerfully uniting shared experience. I hope this new website can help you stay in touch. It is evolving and I welcome your input.
